Manchester United are edging closer to the signing of Frenkie de Jong and don't intend to stop there, according to reports.
In an exclusive report by the esteemed Fabrizio Romano for Caught Offside, it has been stated that as well as the high-profile Frenkie de Jong deal, United are working on making four separate signings to follow him.
The Frenkie de Jong deal is in its very final stages, with Barcelona required to present their books to the La Liga board this Thursday - the end of their accounting period.

United are hopeful that they can leverage Barcelona into finalising the deal with this.
The report mentions a centre back, and it is likely that the centre back in question is Ajax’s Lisandro Martínez.
The Argentine was a key player for new boss Erik ten Hag at his previous club, and his ability to play in midfield as well as at centre back would make him a valuable addition to United’s squad.

Ajax are not keen to let a key player go so easily though, and want between £45/50 million for the player.
The new fullback that Old Trafford bosses could be working on is Hoffenheim’s David Raum, and comments made by the club’s sporting director have indicated that negotiations with the German side will be easier than ones with Ajax.
A new midfielder alongside De Jong is something that was accepted early on to be a necessity this window, and there is a good chance that it will be free agent Christian Eriksen.
After recovering from a tragic cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, Eriksen has returned to football and shown that he still has the quality required to play in the Premier League in a six month spell at Brentford.

Whilst they are keen to keep the player, he is considering trying to prove himself at a higher level again and United are keen to take him.
The report also mentions a striker, depending on how negotiations for Ajax’s Brazilian winger Antony progress.
With Darwin Núñez having gone to bitter rivals Liverpool, it is unclear as to who United will target for this position - an option is the young French striker Hugo Ekitike. Striker talk could be an indication that Anthony Martial might be on his way out, as he is currently United’s second choice in this position.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and new boss Ten Hag have expressed frustrations over United not yet completing a signing, but this report is a positive sign that the club are starting to speed up their summer business.
They will be hoping to conclude all deals at least before pre season is finished, so that players have enough time to settle in and get to know their new teammates and coach before the new season begins.
