Barcelona have offered five clubs the chance to sign Frenkie de Jong, it has been claimed.
De Jong left Ajax in 2019 as one of the most promising young players in world football, joining Barcelona for £75million.
While initially heralded in some quarters as the successor to Barcelona midfield icon Sergi Busquets, the Netherlands international has struggled to establish himself in his half-decade in La Liga.

In turn, he has often been considered as a short-term antidote to Barcelona’s financial woes, with the midfielder having been linked to several of Europe’s elite clubs, including Manchester United, in recent seasons.
And according to the Boot Room, De Jong has once again been offered to a spate of teams ahead of the summer.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Man United are all said to have ‘“been contacted and informed of his situation – with a view to a possible deal this summer”.

This term, De Jong’s minutes have been greatly reduced due to the performances of homegrown stars Pedri. Gavi and Marc Casado. The 27-year-old has made just four starts for the Catalan giants.
Last month De Jong addressed speculation regarding his future. Speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal International, De Jong explained: "People think I want to stay at Barcelona forever because life outside of football is so good here, and that's good, but what happens on the pitch is always more important.

"If I felt like I couldn't contribute enough, or if the team wasn't competitive, I would leave."

The former Ajax star added: "When I signed for Barcelona, I didn't imagine to win only a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup after four years.
“I expected at least double, so that disappoints me. Things happen on the road you can't predict."
