There is a growing number of people calling for Nedd Brockmann to be crowed Australian of the Year for 2023.
Local legend Brockmann recently arrived to a hero’s welcome at Sydney's Bondi after running there from Cottesloe Beach in Perth.
The gruelling 3952km run over the course of 47 days was all to raise awareness for homelessness Down Under with Brockmann also receiving $1.5 million in donations along the way.

That's a journey of 80 kilometres per day on average, running for around 10 hours – all on foot, of course.
His remarkable efforts have received widespread praise from not only us Aussies but also the global community.
And now the chorus of people calling for him to receive the prestigious Australian of the Year award is growing louder and louder.
Aussie paralympic legend Dylan Alcott tweeted: "Nedd Brockmann has real Australian of the Year vibes about him. What an incredible effort. Makes me want to learn how to run. You deserve that sleep in tomorrow brother!!!"

Meanwhile, sports journalist Robert Craddock added: "Thousands greeting Nedd Brockman as he wends his way to Bondi after his 4000km run across Australia. Has there been a greater feat of human endurance by an Australian? All for the homeless. Raised $1.5 million. Australian of the year?"
Thousands flooded the streets of Bondi to welcome Brockmann back to Sydney.

Upon on arrival, there was emotional scenes as he hugged his loved ones before cheering the crowd.
Then, in true blue Aussie fashion, he smashed a shoey as people watched on.
If that, alone, doesn't deserve an Australian of the Year award, then what on earth does?!
“He needs to get off his feet pretty quickly, because they’re pretty mashed by that point,” Nedd's mother Kylie told The Sun-Herald.

“He’s holding up incredibly well. He’s very thin and I’d rather he was a bit chunkier, but he’s still running. I’m astounded.”
Maggots growing in his toes, excruciating blisters and his body giving up on him, Brockmann's undeniable belief and sheer determination is what carried him over the line.

His achievement will forever be remembered as one of the most incredible sporting feats an Aussie has ever dared to do.
What a hero.
