Gymnastics icon Simone Biles has offered support for her teammate Jordan Chiles after she was stripped of her Olympic medal.
After securing a bronze medal in the women’s floor final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, gymnast Chiles was stripped of her first medal as an individual.
The decision, which has been made by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), has moved Chiles to fifth place, taking away her medal.

And teammate Biles, who claimed silver in the event, has spoken out about the decision, offering her support.
Writing on her Instagram story, Biles said "Sending you so much love Jordan, keep your chin up Olympic champ! We love you!”
Alongside Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, Chiles won a gold medal for Team USA in the women's all-around finals.

Four days later, Chiles claimed the bronze medal in the floor final after an inquiry moved her from fifth to third in the scoring.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later revealed that the review was submitted just four seconds later than the one minute deadline.
Therefore, on August 10, the FIG decided to reinstate the original results, putting Romania's Ana Barbosu back in the bronze medal position and Chiles down to fifth.

In a joint statement posted to X, USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee said: "We are devastated by the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling regarding women’s floor exercise.
"The inquiry into the Difficulty Value of Jordan Chiles’ floor exercise routine was filed in good faith and, we believed, in accordance with FIG rules to ensure accurate scoring.
"Throughout the appeal process, Jordan has been subject to consistent, utterly baseless and extremely hurtful attacks on social media.
"No athlete should be subject to such treatment. We condemn the attacks and those who engage, support or instigate them.

"We commend Jordan for conducting herself with integrity both on and off the competition floor, and we continue to stand by and support her."
Whilst the decision will no doubt be disappointing for Chiles, at just 23-years-old, Paris 2024 will not be the last we see of her at the Olympic Games, and with the 2028 Olympics taking place in Los Angeles, she will certainly be eager to claim an individual medal in her home country.
