Jake Paul challenged Speed to 40-yard race as footage resurfaces of him sprinting at full pace

Jake Paul challenged Speed to 40-yard race as footage resurfaces of him sprinting at full pace

The celebrity boxer has his eyes set on conquering the sprinting world

Not content with becoming the biggest name in boxing, Jake Paul apparently has his sights set on conquering the sprinting world, too.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer recorded a unanimous decision victory over former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last week in a fight at AT& T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, that was watched by over 60 million people on Netflix.

That victory took Paul's record since first stepping into the ring in 2020 to 11 wins from 12 fights, with seven of those triumphs coming by way of knockout.

And in a video posted to YouTube in September, Paul challenged fellow YouTuber iShowSpeed to a 40m sprint.

"Forty-yard dash, just like the NFL season," Paul said as he laid down the challenge before sprinting off down the track.

Speed – whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr – has over 33 million YouTube subscribers and specialises in soccer-related content.

A Cristiano Ronaldo super fan, the 19-year-old streamer from Cincinnati, Ohio, had a portrait of the Portuguese goal machine tattooed on his arm last year.

Earlier this month, Speed competed in a 50m sprint against Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles.

Although Speed was predictably well beaten by Lyles in their showdown, the streamer could feel confident about his chances of facing off against Paul in a track race.

Back in 2019, Paul competed in a $100,000 100m race at the Challenger Games. Footage of the event shows a beardless, pre-boxing Paul plod to an unimpressive fourth-place finish, several metres behind the winner, American football kicker-tuned-YouTuber Deestroying, real name Donald de la Haye.

Paul would fancy his chances against Speed in the boxing ring, however.

After Speed criticised Paul's performance against Mike Tyson in last week's Netflix event, the celebrity boxer's manager, Nakisa Bidarian, has challenged the teenage YouTuber to be Paul's next opponent.

"Cool. Tell him I have $10 million for him right now," Bidarian said on an Instagram post by thebreadbatchfm. "Sign this week. If he beats Jake he gets a $10 million bonus. Put your signature where you're clout is."
