An Australian fitness freak has broken the Guinness World Record for the most pull-ups in 24 hours.
Local lad Jaxon Italiano produced 8,008 pull-ups in the space of a day, shattering the previous record tally of 7,715.
But perhaps the most incredible part of this story is that Jaxon initially went into it purely to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

What a legend.
Jaxon had the goal of raising AU$1 for every pull-up he did.
But incredibly, he ended up surpassing that target by raising a whopping AU$8,782.

And it's understood every cent of that will go to Dementia Australia, a charitable organisation Jaxon has become inspired by through his work in a care home.
His fundraising page read: “I am aiming to raise $1 for every pull up I manage to do. But I need your help! Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me reach my goal to beat dementia.
“All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.”
The young man actually completed the task back in November 2022, although the Guinness World Record formally named him the new world record holder earlier this week.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Jaxon said: "Wow. That was messed up. After 8 months of training, I decided to put my body to the test and give it a crack at breaking the Guinness World Record for the Most Pull Ups in 24 hours.
"It certainly wasn’t without it difficulties but I am proud to say that I was able to set a new world record with 8008 pull ups whilst also breaking the 12 hour record with 5900 pull ups.
"I had to unfortunately leave the last 3.5 hours unused as I had completely exhausted myself. A big thank you to everyone who was involved and supported me along the way, especially @snapfitnessmaroubra for hosting the event and @dementia_australia for partnering this attempt with me."
He also spoke to The Daily Telegraph about his impressive feat.

“The hardest part was getting up to the bar every 30 seconds, that was torture,” Jaxon said.
“The mental strain you put yourself through, so many times I was close to quitting.”
