Kanye West has poured petrol on the fires of an age-old feud with pop icon Taylor Swift in a now-deleted social media post.
24-time Grammy Award winning rapper West included Swift on a list of 'moments' that have prevented him from being invited to perform in the halftime show at the Super Bowl, the cultural epicentre of the NFL's annual showpiece.
Despite the rather more compelling fact that long-time rival Jay-Z oversees the musical direction of the halftime show through the NFL's partnership with Roc Nation, West apparently believes instead that he is being kept out because Swift is the partner of NFL star Travis Kelce.

West identified "The Taylor Swift movement" as one of the 'moments' blocking his big Super Bowl bow in a social media post that would be considered extraordinary by almost anybody else's standards.
"Wearing a MAGA hat" was another of the so-called moments that have kiboshed West's evident halftime show dream.
"George Bush don't care about black people" does seem to be a spurious reason indeed not to allow West to perform at the Super Bowl, but being the sort of person who can contextualise his argument with a closing thought of "all of this before I went full Nazi of course" might also have a part to play somewhere.

According to the Daily Mail, Swift has a green light to perform at the Super Bowl but is expected to wait until Kelce has retired.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce has won the Super Bowl on three occasions and is a 10-time Pro Bowler. He has been in a high-profile relationship with Swift since 2023, and the popstar is frequently spotted at Chiefs games.

The previous development in an ongoing dispute drew fire last year from Kelce's father, who proclaimed that a suggestive lyric about the couple in West's track 'LIFESTYLE (Demo)' was a case of "Mental illness on full display."

West, whose deleted post self-identifies him as "the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time", is absent from a list of Super Bowl performers that includes Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Prince, The Weeknd and Michael Jackson.
