Super Bowl advertising costs revealed including the staggering fee for 30-second advert

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

The extraordinary sum of money that broadcaster FOX is charging advertisers for just 30 seconds of air time during the Super Bowl has been revealed and it is truly astronomical.

Super Bowl LIX takes place at the Caesars Superdrome in New Orleans at 11.30pm UK time as the Kansas City Chiefs aim for their third successive title in a row.

Their opponents are the Philadelphia Eagles and the encounter is a rematch of the Super Bowl from two years ago, a clash which the Chiefs won 38-35.

In 2024, the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 and means that victory in Louisiana will ensure a trio of Super Bowls in a row for the Kansas City outfit.

Hundreds of millions of fans from across the globe will be tuning in to the NFL showpiece to see which team emerge victorious.

In the UK, the game will be free-to-air on ITV1 and ITVX thanks to the broadcaster having the rights, while paying subscribers to Sky Sports and DAZN will also be able to watch the game.

In America, the game in being broadcast by FOX via its programme 'NFL on Fox', as well as Tubi, which is a streaming platform and is being shown for free.

As well as the game itself, there will be plenty who tune in to watch the famous half-time show, with Kendrick Lamar and SZA this year's headliners.

It is not uncommon for big sporting events which are being broadcast live to attract hefty advertising fees for those companies who wish to use the airtime to showcase their goods and services to the vast TV audience tuning in.

This is often the case also due to the broadcasters needing to recoup money after often shelling out big funds to get the rights to show sporting events in the first place.

The latest deal for NFL broadcast rights covers $110bn over the course of 11 years, with five different broadcasters sharing them.

And for the Super Bowl, the extraordinary sums of money which FOX are charging advertisers for just a 30-second slot during the broadcast has emerged.

According to Variety, relayed by the IMDB, almost all the advertising slots for the Super Bowl have already been sold by FOX.

And for only 30 seconds worth of advertising time, FOX have charged a staggering $7m per slot it sells.

The broadcaster is also reportedly seeking advertisers to commit to a package in order to guarantee a spot during the game itself.
