An apology was issued over Kendrick Lamar performing at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, it has been claimed.
The Grammy award-winning rapper was the latest star to take the stage at the NFL's iconic half-time show, performing 11 songs in a 13-minute set at the Caesars Superdome.
With cameos from Samuel L. Jackson,SZA, DJ Mustard and Serena Williams, Lamar rattled through a series of his big hits and finished up with the 'Not Like Us' diss track to rival Drake, who he namedropped in his performance despite the ongoing lawsuit against the Universal Music Group.

The Compton artist did censor out a number of lyrics and refrained from saying the word "paedophile" as is in the original song.
However, it's emerged that another rap legend received an apology in relation to Lamar's showing. Lil Wayne was incredibly disappointed to not get the call from organisers Roc Nation to play despite the event taking place in his hometown, stating that "there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, that platform, in my city.".
He added that it "hurt a whole lot" and he felt as though the opportunity was "ripped away" from him.

'Weezy' is a huge football fan and a supporter of Green Bay Packers and his friend, Skip Bayless, a sports commentator, claims he received a letter of apology back in September.
Speaking beforehand, he said the 42-year-old would boycott the show.
"The NFL immediately sent Wayne a letter of apology," he revealed on his YouTube show.

"From nobody in particular, just from the league on NFL letterhead.
"A letter that thanked him for his years of supporting the league, not just the Packers, his favorite team, but supporting and promoting the NFL, in general, which he has.
"I mean, he makes weekly appearances on the NFL's Sunday pregame show, 'NFL GameDay Morning' on the NFL Network. But he will not play Sunday's halftime show, and he definitely won't watch a second of Sunday's halftime show.
"He will watch the game, just not the halftime show. Not one second."
Ban issued after Super Bowl protest
The NFL have confirmed that a dancer who held up a Palestine flag with the words "Gaza" and "Sudan" on it during Lamar's performance has been hit with a lifetime ban.

The individual, wearing the same attire as the other dancers, was standing on the GNX car on the stage before jumping down and waving the flag until he was taken to the ground by security.
He was then escorted out of the stadium and though police have confirmed no charges have been brought, he will be banned from NFL events for life.
"We commend security for quickly detaining the individual who displayed the flag," the NFL said to UPI, as per Yahoo.
"He was part of the 400-member field cast. The individual hid the item on his person and unveiled it late in the show.

"No one involved with the production was aware of the individual's intent. The individual will be banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events."
