Joe Rogan left in awe watching 'phenomenal' UFC star as training footage goes viral

The UFC commentator couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Joe Rogan has been left shocked after seeing training footage of a UFC superstar during

Rogan is one of the biggest names in the UFC, having worked as a commentator and interviewer for over 25 years, establishing himself as one of the most knowledgable people in the sport.

Throughout his time covering the sport, Rogan has seen some of the very best including Conor McGregor, Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierres.

And now new footage has emerged of the commentator reacting to clips of a current UFC fighter, and it left him completely shocked.

While filming his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the 57-year-old reviewed footage of current featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

The footage shows the Spanish champ hitting pads to improve his already world-class striking.

Reacting to the clips, Rogan said: "Ilia Topuria is one of the absolute best fighters in the world, the dude is just f***ing phenomenal.

"One of the things that's phenomenal about him is his technique, watch him hit punches. The speed man, the f***ing speed, f***ing incredible.

"If you know how difficult that is to do and do it that fast, these are like five, six punches a second."

Topuria became the featherweight champion in February this year, after he defeated long-time king of the division Alexander Volkanovski via knockout in the second round.

Speaking ahead of his championship win, Topuria confidently predicted his win and spoke to Ariel Helwani about who he wanted to face after seizing the belt.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, he said: "Conor McGregor, that’s the fight I’m looking for.

"He has a great fight with Mike Chandler. If he doesn’t get his ass whooped, he will be a pleasure to share the Octagon with me. Maybe in UFC Spain. We’re both from Europe, and he will be able to go back home and tell his wife, 'Baby, take out the red panties. Topuria kept us rich'."

However, after a knockout of the year contender finish over Justin Gaethje, it will instead be former featherweight champion Max Holloway who will face Topuria next.

Topuria v Holloway will take place at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi this October.
