Conor McGregor has dropped a clear hint on when he will return to action.

Irishman McGregor has not been in action since he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July of 2021.

The former UFC champion was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler back in July but pulled out due to injury.

Since then, the Irishman’s future in UFC has been thrown into doubt.

On Saturday, British boxing stars Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois are in action at Wembley as the pair battle it out for the IBF belt.

Ahead of the fight, McGregor made his way into Wembley Stadium to take his seat for the much-anticipated bout.

Prior to the main event, McGregor spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live as he gave an update on his future.

He said: “It's great to be here and witness this spectacle firsthand. It can go either way, it's a good close fight. They've sparred with each other before and it's going to be a dust-up in this mega stadium.”

On his UFC future, McGregor said: “A stadium show has been an ambition for a long time for sure. Some time in 2025 [next fight].”

When asked whether Joshua vs Fury could happen, McGregor added: “Tyson is lightning, he's fast on his feet. it's a cracking fight, it must take place no matter what takes place tonight, tomorrow or the day after.”

Speaking ahead of the fight, Dubois said: “I need to retain this world title. It's a great thing to have but I need to legitimise myself by winning this fight.

“I'm on the rise, I've got the momentum on my side. No more words - just fighting, punches. I'm ready to fight and destroy. Destroy.”

British middleweight boxer Chris Eubank Jr has backed Joshua to do the job, he said: “To keep the momentum and wider interest in the bigger fights going, however, he has to win, and I think he will.

“Joshua is too experienced, too strong and his boxing IQ will be too high for Dubois. It is a cliche but there are levels to the game and Joshua is just a few too many levels above Dubois.”
