But he could return to the promotion in the shape of a coaching gig on The Ultimate Fighter.
Tony Ferguson proposed the idea, with Nurmagomedov on board as he voiced his support.
UFC president White has now backed Nurmagomedov and Ferguson to be TUF coaches, saying he's 'sold' on the idea.

Asked about Ferguson's proposition, White said: "So, you’re telling me, you guys as fans, media, whatever it might be, like the idea of two guys possibly coaching that wouldn’t fight each other?
"I’ll consider it. Congratulations... I will absolutely entertain that idea."
Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been scheduled to fight five times in the UFC, but a clash never came to fruition.

White joked that if Nurmagomedov and Ferguson do go head-to-head on TUF, then hopefully he can match them up inside the Octagon.
"Hopefully they’ll get pissed off enough at each other that they actually want to fight and I can make them fight," he added.
"I’m in. You sold me."
Ferguson is enduring a difficult period in his career, having lost four fights in a row - including a brutal knockout defeat to Michael Chandler last month.

But he's hoping to square off with the Dagestan star on TUF.
