The world of combat sports is an interesting one - with dream matches across MMA, boxing, and even YouTube proposed on the regular.
But this potential matchup certainly comes from left field.
UFC star Conor McGregor has been called out by former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch.

But it seems like the former boxer isn’t keen to stick to his lane either, he’s proposed an MMA bout instead.
He’s claimed he could take on and defeat the two-division UFC champion inside the Octagon.
On his YouTube channel, he said, “I'd fight Conor McGregor in the cage.

"I could be getting myself in trouble here or into a position I can't wiggle out of, but I think I'd take him on in the cage. He's too small.”
Look there’s no doubt there is a sizeable height and weight difference between the pair, but calling out someone as Notorious in the cage is a gutsy move.
It looks like the Irishman is all for it as well and he has the right man to put it all together as well.
He tweeted boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn: “Get this signed up lad.”

The Englishman is definitely the type of guy that would take on this sort of crossover project between two greats of the combat sports game.
Hearn responded: “Love it!”
The MMA star has only boxed professionally once in a losing effort against Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

His potential future opponent, Froch, commentated that night and was full of criticism and verbal jabs for McGregor.
The former featherweight champion fired back last year when he went on a rant aimed at the 45-year-old retired boxer.
McGregor tweeted: “I’ll grab his head and twist it clean off at a 1er with my bare hands.
"Little wally of a thing I’ll slap you around you little toffee nose toss pot.”

You have to love a McGregor Twitter rant.
Froch has insisted in the past that it would be a mismatch if the two were to face off inside the squared-circle.
He told Boxing UK: “He’s not a boxer, he doesn’t want to fight me, he’d get absolutely f***** up, but he might do the same to me in the cage and that is why we are both champion in our own right.
“He knows, if he wants a roll around, he knows where to come, but he ain’t going to want this smoke.”
MMA would likely be a different story.
