Shock club ready to exploit loophole and hijack Viktor Gyokeres transfer amid claims he's 'decided' next move

Shock club ready to exploit loophole and hijack Viktor Gyokeres transfer amid claims he's 'decided' next move

Gyokeres has been linked with huge clubs across Europe in recent weeks.

A shock club has entered the race to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, it has been reported.

The Sweden international has scored a staggering 23 goals in all domestic competitions this season, with seven of those goals arriving in Ruben Amorim's final three games in charge before he left for Manchester United.

Unsurprisingly, Amorim has been linked with making a move for the former Coventry and Brighton striker, along with the likes of Arsenal.

Gyokeres had a front row seat as Arsenal thrashed his Sporting side 5-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night. But the Gunners might also find a January move tricky given their significant summer spending.

Meanwhile, The Sun claim that the striker has 'his heart set on a move to the Premier League and a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United'.

But according to Sky Sports Germany, United have shortlisted four other strikers for the January transfer window with Amorim's budget expected to be relatively modest.

That is where the new interest comes in, with Barcelona reportedly keen on securing the Swede's signature in what would be a left-field move.

What is less surprising, though, is the reported structure of the deal which, as has become common for Barca in recent times in the midst of their financial troubles, isn't totally straightforward.

According to Sport, the Spanish giants are willing to give up the 50 per cent sell-on clause they inserted into the deal to sell winger Francisco Trincao to Sporting.

Barca sold the ex-Wolves loanee to the Portuguese side in 2022 for a fee of around €10 million, and inserted a buy-back clause that would get progressively higher every year.

Currently, that buy-back value is said to stand at €17.5 million, as per Record, but would then rise to €20 million at the end of this season.

However, it appears Barca would much prefer to sign Gyokeres than bring Trincao back to Camp Nou at a discounted price, as they are said to be prepared to waive that clause altogether alongside the sell-on clause.

What is clear is that Gyokeres will have a big decision to make over his future soon, whether that be in January or next summer.
