Steven Gerrard is hoping to use his Liverpool connection to poach two more of the league leaders' stars this transfer window.
Gerrard was key to persuading Jordan Henderson to join Al Ettifaq in the summer, but the English midfielder is reportedly trying to force an exit from the Saudi club after offering himself to Bayern Munich.
The Saudi club insists that Henderson is not for sale, so if the Englishman was to leave this month it would likely be on loan.
Al Ettifaq currently sit eighth in the Saudi Pro League with 25 points from 19 games, however, Gerrard's side haven't won since October.

Gerrard will be hoping the Henderson saga doesn't damage his reputation too heavily, as he eyes moves for two Liverpool defenders.
According to CaughtOffside, a three-hour transfer meeting saw the Saudi side agree on defenders Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as two of their potential targets.
Neither Gomez or Matip are first-choice centre-backs for Jurgen Klopp, with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk preferred when available.
Matip is currently on the sidelines after injuring his ACL, but Gomez has started five of Liverpool's last six matches due to injuries in the squad.

The report also claims that Aston Villa's Bertrand Traore, whom Gerrard also has a connection with from his time at Villa Park, is among Al Ettifaq's targets.
All three targets are believed to be long term, so a summer move could be more likely, however, with the economic power of the Saudi Pro League it's difficult to rule out a January move.
Matip's contract is set to run out at the end of the season with no new deal lined up as of yet, so Liverpool may be keen to find any way of cashing in on the defender this month despite his injury.

Gomez on the other hand is proving to be a very handy asset for Klopp, and the defender's versatility could be key for Liverpool's title charge.
