Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood must accept a massive drop in pay if he is to join Lazio on transfer deadline day.
United are desperately searching for a buyer for Greenwood in the final hours of the transfer window after deciding that the striker's future lies away from Old Trafford.
Greenwood, 21, was suspended by United in January 2022 after being arrested and later charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February of this year after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case and new material came to light during the police investigation.
Following an internal investigation into Greenwood's behaviour, the decision was made last month for the player to leave Old Trafford.
It has been claimed that United could lose out on millions if they are unable to secure a loan move or permanent deal for Greenwood before the transfer window closes for Premier League teams at 11pm on Friday, with the club potentially having to terminate his contract if the deadline passes.

Greenwood and United have been handed a potential lifeline in the final hours of the transfer window, with reports in Italy claiming Lazio had initiated contact over a deal for the English forward.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims Greenwood is 'open' to the move but it would need approval from Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri before a deal could be agreed with United.
Di Marzio went on to claim that Greenwood could be offered a €700,000 (£600,000) annual salary, which he would accept.
However, Gazzetta claim the transfer is unlikely to be finalised given that Greenwood is not a priority for Sarri.

Should Greenwood be offered that contract and accept, it would be a significant drop in pay from his contract at Old Trafford.
He is currently thought to earn around £75,000 per week at United, with the contract offer from Lazio worth around £11,500 per week.
United have been paying his wages while he is suspended from first-team duties and the Daily Mail claim he could earn as much as £8m if he remains at the club until the end of his contract in 2025.
