Raphael Varane could play a key part in Manchester United signing a new striker in January.
It has been another poor season for United as Erik ten Hag has so far struggled to get the best out of the players.
During the summer transfer window, the Old Trafford club spent big on the likes of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana.

However, United are currently seventh in the Premier League table and are completely out of Europe after a disastrous Champions League campaign.
Most recently, United fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
With the January transfer window now open, United have been linked with a move for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been described as ‘phenomenal’ after netting 19 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions.

According to The Athletic, Guirassy has a release clause of just £15.2 million.
However, due to Financial Fair Play, United would reportedly struggle to pay that fee.
As a result, Varane could play a key role as he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
The Frenchman joined the Old Trafford club from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in a deal worth a reported £41 million back in 2021.

Since then, he has often been one of the first names on the team sheet when fully fit. Varane has so far made a total of 79 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring twice.
However, Varane now finds himself on the fringes of the starting XI as Ten Hag has opted to play the likes of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in recent matches.
If United manage to sell Varane for a fee during the January transfer window, it can then be used to bring in new players, with Guirassy an option for the club.
