Man City have 'secret agreement' for incredible £50m signing to join once summer window opens

Man City have 'secret agreement' for incredible £50m signing to join once summer window opens

Manchester City are working behind the scenes to add to Pep Guardiola's squad.

Manchester City have reportedly struck a 'secret agreement' ahead of a £50 million summer transfer deal.

After a dreadful run of form that left City trailing behind the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League, the reigning champions of England enjoyed a busy January transfer window.

The likes of Vitor Reis (£30m), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33m), Omar Marmoush (£67m) and Nico Gonzalez (£50m) all arrived at the Etihad Stadium last month as City splashed the cash in a bid to reignite their season.

It was also widely reported that City were interested in Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso but a move failed to materialise as the club focused their spending on other areas.

Now, it has been claimed that City and Juventus had a secret agreement for the Italian.

As reported by Tutto Sport, City and Juventus had agreed a fee of £50 million, but the move never happened with the English champions spending their budget elsewhere.

However, it has been suggested that the Blues would be keen to reignite their interest in Cambiaso when the summer transfer window comes around.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly looking to add a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, who left in January to join AC Milan on loan, and Cambiaso could be the chosen one.

It has been said that due to their previous agreement on the transfer fee, reviving the deal in the summer should not be a problem for all parties.

Speaking about City's January spending spree, Guardiola recently said: "The club decided to bring in an extra player in the final third with talent, scoring, running, assists, set pieces.

"I think except for Aymeric Laporte, we never went to winter transfer. Always we want to go to the end but it’s an exceptional situation, this season is exceptional for many things. We should intervene to finish the season as best as possible."

City are back in action this weekend when they take on Leyton Orient in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
