Bayern Munich have already decided Harry Kane's successor amid release clause claims and it's bad news for Man Utd

The Old Trafford club have been admirers of the former Tottenham captain in the past.

Bayern Munich's targets to replace Harry Kane should the England captain depart the Bundesliga club in the next year or so have emerged - and it could spell bad news for both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Kane made the move to Bayern in the summer of 2023 in a £100 million move from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker had a year left to run on his contract at the North London club and Spurs opted to sell their prized asset rather than run the risk of seeing him depart for free a year later, after Kane had netted 280 goals in 435 games.

So far at the Allianz Arena, Kane has scored 70 goals in 72 games in all competitions for the Bundesliga side, and his contract at Bayern runs until the summer of 2027 as things stand.

It has emerged recently that in the recently closed January transfer window, there was a release clause in Kane's Bayern contract which would have allowed him to move on had it been met.

A report from German publication Bild reported he could have departed the German side for around £67 million last month, a clause which will drop to some £54 million in the 2026 January transfer window, at which time Kane will have 18 months remaining on his Bayern deal.

A further report from the Daily Telegraph has confirmed that Kane's former club Spurs have a first-option agreement should Bayern ever agree to sell the forward and would give him the opportunity to return to North London, should he wish to head back to his old stomping ground.

Kane is reported to be happy living in Munich and the clause is not something he is thinking of activating.

But a further report from Bild has suggested that Bayern are assessing their options in the transfer market should Kane depart Bavaria, with two names emerging that have been mentioned in the same breath as Premier League sides.

Bayern have held talks over possible moves for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres, who are two of Europe's hottest prospects in the striking department in the transfer market.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Sesko, while Gyokeres has also been strongly tipped to reunite with his former boss Ruben Amorim at Manchester United following his move to Old Trafford from Sporting in November.

Should Bayern make a move for either striker in the event of Kane's departure, it would take a big target off the table for each Premier League side and potentially cause complications.
