Steven Gerrard clearly wasn't happy with referee Jon Moss following Aston Villa's loss to Liverpool, saying it was good the official was retiring.
If there was any notion that Gerrard wouldn't be setting his team up to do well against his former side, when Liverpool visited Villa Park on Tuesday night, it was soon put to bed.

The feeling was that the Liverpool legend wouldn't exactly be too pleased if the team he managed derailed Jurgen Klopp's team's chances of winning the quadruple.
Instead they scored after just three minutes and lost just 2-1, in a very spirited performance, with Joel Matip and Luis Diaz scoring for the Reds.
Whilst there was no controversy in either goal, Villa weren't best pleased with the referee's performance, and Gerrard reacted pretty bluntly when told of Moss' impending retirement.

"I just hope that it’s looked at. That’s all I’ll say. I just hope it’s looked at. I hope, I hope it’s looked at," the Villa boss said when asked about the referee's performance.
"...I just hope Jon’s performance is looked at.
"Listen, I don’t want to get into trouble. I don’t want to be sour. We’ve lost the game. Liverpool have scored two goals against us and we need to look at that.
"I don’t want to cover over any cracks but, you asked me a question, and I said I hope the referee’s performance is looked at."

Gerrard was then told Moss was retiring, answering, "Is he? Good."
There's other referees joining 51-year-old Moss, who famously owns a record store called The Vinyl Whistle, in calling it a day at the end of the season.
Martin Atkinson is also set to retire, as well as Mike Dean with the league's most famous official favourite to be involved in I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here later this year.

Dean recently admitted that he was intimidated by Arsene Wenger, with the Frenchman then talking about the time the ref sent him into the stands at Old Trafford, and he was left wondering why.
