In the early hours of Sunday morning, Manchester City goalkeeper Scott Carson called out a fan on Twitter who claimed he didn't play a single minute during both of his Champions League-winning campaigns.
The 37-year-old Whitehaven-born goalkeeper matched Paolo Maldini's record of having the longest gap between Champions League wins [18 years] when he received a medal on the Ataturk Olympic Stadium podium.
Carson, who failed to make a single appearances for the Citizens throughout their 2022/23 campaign in Europe, celebrated with his teammates after they scraped a 1-0 win over Inter Milan.

And two hours after the final whistle in Istanbul, the third-choice goalkeeper told a supporter to "do his research" after he made a false statement about his Champions League triumphs on social media.
Shortly after Rodri's goal sealed history, one Twitter user wrote: "Scott Carson. Twice champions league winner without playing a minute" before tagging the former Liverpool goalkeeper in the tweet.
Carson, however, wasn't having any of it. "90 minutes quarter final do your research lad," he replied.

The experienced shot-stopper was an unused sub when Liverpool beat AC Milan to win the competition in 2005 but he did feature in Liverpool's quarter-final first leg clash against Juventus.
In fact, he played the full 90 minutes as first-half goals from Sami Hyypia and Luis Garcia sealed a 2-1 win at Anfield.
Carson has only ever played two games for City since his move from Derby County. The first was in a 4-2 victory over Newcastle in May 2021 and his latest was a 17-minute appearance in last season's Champions League against Sporting CP.

That being said, the Cumbrian plays a crucial role around the training ground. In fact, City manager Pep Guardiola recently hailed Carson as the perfect role model.
"The best advice I could give to the young players is to stay around Scott Carson as much as possible in the locker room and on the pitch," Guardiola said.
"It would be better than being with me. If they spend a lot of time [with him], listen to him and pay attention, that is the best advice and learning they can get about their future careers."
Guardiola added: “Every second he is training and every minute you get on the pitch and in the changing room [with Carson], you value. It's like the young actors have to be with the old actors on the set. They are wiser and have the values of the profession."
