German giants enquire about Liverpool ace amongst ongoing angst surrounding wage structure
Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić is reported to have his heart set on Liverpool and Senegal ace Sadio Mane as a ‘statement signing’, it is being reported by Sky News Germany.
Salihamidžić and Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann have both had eyes on the player heading into the summer transfer window and in recent days there has been ‘movement’ in talks with the player and those around him, with Mane apparently being able to ‘imagine’ a move to the Bavarian giants, at a fee of around £42 million.

Senior figures in Munich have been long time admirers of the winger, believing he’d be the perfect fit for their distinctive high pressing style of play (not dissimilar to the famous ‘heavy metal football’ Mane has been so instrumental in under Klopp); but it seems certain Liverpool would fight to keep him, bearing in mind not just the warm affection fans have for him, but a stellar season in which he scored 23 goals in all competitions as Liverpool drove tantalisingly close to a first ever quadruple in English football.
With his contract due to expire next year, and negotiations with Salah stalling, these rumours surely ratchet up pressure on Liverpool owners the FSG group to ditch the rigid and low wages which have caused so much consternation between players in recent months.
