James McClean stood apart from his teammates during the minute's silence for the Queen ahead of Huddersfield vs. Wigan Athletic.

There was an act of remembrance for Queen Elizabeth II following her passing last Thursday in the Championship fixture between Huddersfield and Wigan.

A minute's silence was held before Tuesday's league meeting at The John Smith's Stadium.

An image from the tribute has emerged online and shows McClean observing the minute's silence in his own way.

The Wigan players stood on the centre circle, arm-in-arm - other than McClean who stood away from his teammates.

McClean took to social media to address his stance on wearing a black armband for the game following the Queen's death.

"Unless you are a nationalist that was born and raised in Derry or anywhere else in the north of Ireland then don't assume or speak on our behalf unless you can relate ie. Miguel Delaney," he wrote in a story post on Instagram.

The Derry-born winger did indeed wear a black armband in Wigan's match against Huddersfield.
