The 10 best Premier League players right now named and ranked

SPORTbible has attempted to rank the 1-10 of the Premier League's finest players.

SPORTbible have had a go at ranking the top 10 Premier League players right now.

Competition for the Premier League title this year will be fierce, with Manchester City looking to lift their fifth consecutive league trophy.

Arsenal and Liverpool are among those who will hope to topple them or at least run them close, while Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United will hope to bounce back from difficult seasons last term.

With all that in mind, we've decided to rank the top 10 players in the division, using largely last season's performances but with an eye on the opening games of the current campaign as well.

10) Bruno Fernandes

Perhaps a controversial pick to some, but Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United's star man throughout the difficulties of the last 12 months.

With 10 goals and eight assists last term, Erik ten Hag's side would have been in a far worse position without their club captain.

9) Martin Odegaard

Arsenal's club captain has been a phenomenon since arriving in the Premier League four years ago.

The Norwegian makes Arsenal tick, and his 23 goals in the last two seasons shows how much of an attacking threat he is for Mikel Arteta's side.

8) Virgil van Dijk

At 33 years old, Virgil van Dijk shows no signs of slowing down just yet.

The dominant centre-back has already registered three clean sheets in three Liverpool matches under Arne Slot and has had little issue in adapting to his new manager's style of play.

7) William Saliba

Arsenal fans argue that William Saliba is now the Premier League's best centre-back - and they might not be wrong.

His absence at the back end of the 2022/23 season through a back injury was a key reason behind why the Gunners' title challenge faltered. After playing all 38 games last season, they kept their momentum until the final day - and he's only conceded one goal in three games so far this term.

6) Bukayo Saka

One of Arsenal's key players, Bukayo Saka keeps getting better. After 25 goal contributions in the Premier League last term, he has four in three Premier League games this term.

If the Gunners go all the way this time around after consecutive second-placed finishes, Saka will surely need to play a key role.

5) Cole Palmer

When Cole Palmer departed Manchester City to sign for Chelsea, not many would have expected his inevitable rise to be this rapid.

But here we are. Star performances for England at Euro 2024 - despite not being trusted to start - arrived after 22 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League last season.

Palmer already has four assists in three games this term, and a well-deserved Ballon d'Or nomination. Cold.

4) Rodri

One of the favourites for this season's Ballon d'Or, Rodri dictates play for Manchester City and is a vital part of the way they play.

Earlier this year, he set an all-time record for the longest unbeaten club streak for a single player, with an astonishing 74 matches. Then he won Euro 2024 with Spain. Some going.

3) Phil Foden

The Premier League's Player of the Year last season, you might automatically assume that Phil Foden gets the number one spot this time around.

He enjoyed a solid Euro 2024 with England, although perhaps didn't quite have the influence he would have liked.

Another season like the last - 19 goals and eight assists - and you could easily rank Foden even higher.

2) Mohamed Salah

We're only three games into his reign, but Mohamed Salah looks like becoming unstoppable under Arne Slot.

The Egyptian has registered three goals and three assists already, and has at least 30 goal contributions in the league in two of his past three seasons. Liverpool will be desperate to keep hold of him.

1) Erling Haaland

It speaks volumes about Erling Haaland that a 27-goal haul last term might have been seen as a bad season for him.

So far, the Norwegian's had enough of scoring at just under a goal a game, making his displeasure known by smashing in seven of them inside just three games. His 36-goal record from two years might be under threat.
