Legendary commentator Martin Tyler is the subject of criticism after the way he described Darwin Nunez’s goal against Manchester City.
Liverpool got their season off to the perfect start after clinching the FA Community Shield at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on Saturday.
In what was a much anticipated clash between the two front runners of the Premier League last season, it was Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who came out the strongest.

Trent Alexander Arnold’s deflected shot gave the Reds the lead in the 21st minute.
City new man Julian Alvarez levelled the match in the 70th minute after a chaotic goal mouth scramble that resulted in a lengthy VAR check. Liverpool though, were not to be denied their first taste of Community Shield victory since 2006.
In the 83rd minute Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot to nudge his side ahead after Ruben Dias was penalised for hand ball.
Klopp’s summer signing Nunez then announced himself in emphatic style by scoring the third goal to seal a 3-1 victory.

Liverpool fans in the stadium were ecstatic to see their new player get on the score sheet, but those watching on TV were left underwhelmed by Tyler’s commentary.
Fans took to social media to express their discontent over Tyler’s call of the Nunez goal.
One fan said: “Martin Tyler’s voice(crying laughter emoji)man’s at a funeral.”

Another tweeted: “Martin Tyler’s commentary ruins our moments like these.”
Whilst one fan said: “The voice of doom….Martin Tyler everyone, when will he retire.”
And a fourth fan added: “Poor Martin Tyler’s voice is gone.”
Though not his best piece of commentary, it is slightly harsh to criticise the man who has brought us some of the best commentary the world has ever heard.

His most famous moment is undoubtedly the ‘Aguerooooo’ moment during City’s dramatic last minute win against QPR to secure the league title back in 2012.
There is no doubting that Tyler is one of the best ever commentators in football history, but now at the age of 76, many fans feel the time is now for him to step aside.
However, Tyler has shown no signs of wanting to hang up his microphone, his voice is to be expected to be heard throughout the 22/23 season and beyond.
