Liverpool are reportedly interested in a former Manchester City striker as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez.
Back in the summer of 2022, Uruguayan striker Nunez completed a move from Benfica to Liverpool in a deal worth a reported initial fee of £64 million, which could eventually rise to a club record £85 million.
However, the 25-year-old has largely struggled to win over the fans as his erratic finishing often lands him in a sea of heavy criticism.
So far in the 24/25 season, Nunez has only managed four goals and three assists in 23 matches across all competitions, putting him behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota in Arne Slot's pecking order.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, it has been claimed that Liverpool received an offer for Nunez.
As reported by Italian news outlet AC Milan TMN, AC Milan have contacted Liverpool over a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
It has been suggested that Milan would be willing to pay €5 million up front for Nunez for the six-month loan, with the obligation to buy worth a total of €45 million.
Could Liverpool replace Darwin Nunez with former Manchester City star?
After the reports linking Nunez with a move away, Liverpool themselves have been linked with a move for ex-City striker Liam Delap, who has impressed since joining Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old has so far scored six goals and recorded one assist in 17 matches in the Premier League. Prior to his switch to Ipswich, the forward spent time on loan at the likes of Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City while also making two league appearances for Pep Guardiola's side.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Delap is 'wanted' by a host of different Premier League sides including former club City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Earlier in the season, Slot said of Nunez: "For me, he has impact. He hasn't scored the amount of goals that he wants to score ... but he does have impact in his work-rate. He's part of a team that scores a lot of goals and is winning a lot.

"Of course, as a number nine you want to score more goals, and that's definitely what he wants as well. But I'm not only judging Mohamed Salah on his goals and Darwin on his goals - I also judge them on their work-rate and what they bring to the team."
Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend when they host rivals United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
