Memphis Depay could be set for a shock return to Old Trafford after reportedly asking Barcelona to let him leave on a free transfer in January.
The forward's initial spell at United was nothing short of a disappointment and was subsequently cut short.
United could be looking to bolster their attacking options in the fast-approaching transfer window with Cristiano Ronaldo not scoring goals and Anthony Martial's injuries holding him back.

Sport have also reported that Depay could be lured to Tottenham under Antonio Conte.
Since Xavi took charge of the Catalan club, Depay has seen his minutes reduced.
Depay was signed by Ronaldo Koeman and is now requesting to have his contract terminated in order to choose his destination.
Depay still expected to make World Cup squad
The Dutchman's reported move to Juventus in the summer failed late on in the negotiations and has since seen a lack of playing time.

It has been a significant decline for the forward, who was once named Best Young Player in the world ahead of Raheem Sterling in 2015 by France Football.
Nevertheless, Depay is still expected to make the World Cup squad for the Netherlands but may not return to Barca post-World Cup.
Erik ten Hag has been linked to nearly every Dutch player since arriving at Man United and Depay is just another on the list.

However, United fans have not been too kind to Depay on social media since leaving and have made their feelings known on Twitter about the potential return.
One user tweeted a simple: "No thank you."
Whilst another said: "No we need to stop buying failed players."
There have been some fans write positive things about the forward and said: "I think he would be great as a squad player only. In addition he has to be very cheap and not overpriced like De Jong."
