Harry Maguire could be sold by Manchester United, having been “caught up” in the “politics” that surrounded Cristiano Ronaldo’s ill-fated return to the club, according to a fresh report.
United have been in resurgent form this term under the management of Erik ten Hag.
Indeed, in February the club claimed the Carabao Cup, their first trophy since 2017, while they are competing in both the latter stages of the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, United are sitting in third in the Premier League, though only three points clear of fifth-placed Newcastle.
The club’s improvement has in part been down to their summer recruitment. Casemiro has been central to United’s success while Lisandro Martinez has slotted in at centre-back to form a stubborn defensive partnership with Raphaël Varane.
United have only lost three times when Varane and Martinez have started together and the pair’s success has meant Maguire, United’s captain, has had his game time seriously restricted.
Could Maguire leave Man Utd in summer?
ESPN’s Rob Dawson claimed United are ready to listen to offers for several senior players, with Maguire, Scott McTominay, Victor Lindelof and Dean Henderson having all garnered interest.

Beyond his restricted game-time the outlet’s sources claimed Maguire was caught up in “dressing room politics” involving Cristiano Ronaldo, before the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s acrimonious exit from United in November.
According to the publication Ronaldo wanted to be club captain and said as much to interim boss Ralf Rangnick, though the German declined.
Furthermore, the same report alleged United’s coaching staff like Maguire’s ability on the ball, but have concerns about his tendency to rush out to win challenges, as well as his lack of mobility.
In turn, Maguire could be one of several outgoings at the end of the season, as United attempt to balance the books after last summer’s significant expenditure.

Indeed, Phil Jones is set to leave United at the end of the season alongside Axel Tuanzebe, with both players coming to the end of their contracts.
