Manchester United have asked David de Gea to not agree a deal elsewhere as the goalkeeper looks set to depart Old Trafford at the end of his contract.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper won the Premier League Golden Glove award this season after keeping an impressive 16 clean sheets. However, the strong statistics could be down to the solid defence ahead of him, after the Spaniard was regularly criticised throughout the season due to the mistakes he made in goal for the Red Devils.
The former Atletico Madrid man arrived at the club back in 2011 for around £21million and has gone on to make over 500 appearances in red.
With his current deal set to expire this season, it looked as if the two parties had agreed on new terms to extend his stay at Old Trafford on reduced wages from £375,00-per-week to £200,000. However, the club reportedly backtracked on the deal with De Gea now set to become a free agent following the end of his deal today.

Regardless of the U-turn performed by the hierarchy at the club, United are still in contact with De Gea regarding his next move in football.
According to The Sun, the club have been in contact with the player and have requested that he does not join another team immediately, in the event that they can call upon him if they fail to acquire another option to play in goal next season.
Erik ten Hag's side have been heavily linked with several names this summer including England number one Jordan Pickford and Champions League finalist Andre Onana. With the latter looking most likely as a bid looks set to be submitted later this evening, according to Sky Sports.
