30,000 Gremio fans attended Luis Suarez’s presentation, it was wild

The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker joined the Brazilian club last week

Luis Suarez was unveiled at Brazilian club Gremio in spectacular style as 30,000 fans attended the Uruguayan’s presentation.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker’s contract with boyhood Uruguayan club Nacional expired last month.

After weeks of speculation, it was announced last week that he had signed for Brazil’s Serie A side Gremio.

Upon signing for the club, Suarez wrote on his Instagram: “Ready for this nice challenge at @gremio, looking forward to being there and enjoying.”

Now, he has been given a spectacular welcome by 30,000 Gremio fans who attended his presentation. You can watch the footage below.

As the 35-year-old walked out of the tunnel, the crowd could not hide their excitement as they cheered loudly for their new striker. Suarez walked out to a sea of huge sparklers and smoke in what was a stunning spectacle.

Suarez took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the welcome he received.

He wrote: “Thanks for the caring! Incredible welcome, thank you from the heart for how you made me feel today. LET’S GO @gremio!”

Suarez is often regarded as one of the finest strikers of his generation. Although he had some controversial moments, it was clear to see he was for sure a world-class striker when at his best.

After starting his career at Nacional, Suarez spent 16 years in European football, starting with Groningen and Ajax in the Netherlands.

The Uruguayan then moved to the Premier League when he signed for Liverpool in 2011 and nearly single-handedly inspired the Reds to a title win but they just fell short.

Suarez left Anfield for Barcelona in 2014 and was part of a potent front three alongside Neymar and Lionel Messi. He then joined Atletico Madrid and after two years, he went back to Uruguayan side Nacional.

Will Suarez be a success at Gremio? Only time will tell.
