Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham has reached its conclusion for the time being with a deal for the youngster ‘impossible’ this summer.
That’s according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano who claims the Reds enquired over Bellingham’s availability in June.
However, Dortmund responded with a firm response of no, insisting Bellingham is ‘untouchable’ this window.

As such, all signs point towards Liverpool postponing their move to sign a new star midfielder until 2023.
This has concerned some Reds fans. Although the Liverpool squad has some significant engine room depth, some argue it does lack depth.
Jürgen Klopp’s preferred midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago Alcantara makes up one of best in the Premier League, but the drop off in quality when any one of those players is unavailable is alarming.
Fabinho doesn’t have an out and out understudy, instead Jordan Henderson moves across into the middle of the three in the pivot role.

When Henderson is unavailable, however, Jürgen Klopp does have a plethora of options to replace him in the right-central-midfield role.
He can pick from any one of Naby Keita, Harvey Elliot, Curtis Jones, or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
But none of those players are true superstars, and the drop off in quality in midfield when they are called in is notable.
And Liverpool simply don’t have an engine room with a comparable profile to Thiago Alcantara.

Hence, the Reds have been linked with the likes of Matheus Nunes and Florian Neuhaus as players who could potentially come in and compete with the Spaniard.
Moving for either player would be a wise move from Liverpool.
And considering neither player would cost the Merseyside club too much, the transfer wouldn't have to impact the Apotential signing of Jude Bellingham next summer.
Liverpool will be disappointed Jude Bellingham is unavailable for transfer this window.

However, they shouldn’t let that disappointment deter them from signing any engine room reinforcements before the season starts.
