Bayern Munich’s move for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane may have broken down with the German giants assessing other targets, according to the Express.
The German clubs’ transfer chief Hasan Salihamidzic has hinted that the deal, which would on Liverpool’s terms see Bayern part with £42.5m, is too difficult for the club to pull off.
Mane was broadly expected to head to Munich this summer, despite the German giants already having two bids rejected. Liverpool believed that they still held the cards, and reports indicate that there were 'insulted' by Bayern's last £30million offer.

Bayern have a few negotiation tactics and tricks up their sleeve too, and sporting director Salihamidzic has publicly pointed out that the club have multiple options on their shortlist.
"Generally speaking, we're trying to strengthen our team," he said. "We're working on several options in attack. The transfer market is not easy, it always depends on the financial possibilities of the club. I don't want to talk about players of other clubs."

When asked to clarify his comment on bolstering attacking options, in terms of targets other than Mane, the Bayern chief responded: "Of course, we can't rely on one option to strengthen our attack. We must have several options."
With Robert Lewandowski expected to leave the Allianz Arena this summer and Darwin Nunez’s imminent arrival at Anfield, it leaves a question on Mane’s future as the domino waiting to fall.
The Polish forward has been heavily linked with Barcelona despite their financial despair, and is also being geared up for a move to Chelsea with Romelu Lukaku potentially leaving after a disappointing campaign.
If Mane does leave, which is still the likely scenario, he won’t be short of suitors - which makes the mind wander to whether this is a pure negotiation ploy from Salihamidzic.
