Bayern Munich’s pay structure was exposed when a player’s payslip was leaked after it had reportedly been stolen from his car.
Bayern Munich are the most well-supported and successful club in Germany and boasts 33 German titles, 20 German Cups and six Champions League crowns, to name a few of the many trophies the club has in their cabinet at the Allianz Arena.
And as a result of their consistent success, they have been able to poach their rivals’ best players - usually from Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

In recent years, former Premier League stars such as Michael Olise and Harry Kane have swapped life in England for a new challenge in Germany, with the latter reportedly being the club’s highest-paid player, earning €480,769 (£412,180) per week, as per Capology.
However, it was former Morocco international and current sporting director of Marseille, Medhi Benatia, who saw his payslip exposed in 2015.
During his time at the Bundesliga club, the former defender had his salary leaked on WhatsApp after his payslip had been stolen from his car.

The document showed that Benatia was paid £88,000 per week, which works out at around £4.6million per year, by the then Bundesliga champions.
At the time, it was reported by German outlet BILD that police had attempted to find those responsible for the leak – although the result of the search is still unclear.
And the 38-year-old is not the only footballer whose payslip has been made public after falling into the wrong hands.

Chelsea winger – currently on loan at Arsenal – Raheem Sterling suffered the same fate when he was playing for Manchester City in 2019.
In what appears to represent a month’s wage, Sterling supposedly had a net pay of £1,160,634.94, which was made up of £708,333.33 basic pay and a bonus of £1,500,000.
Before tax, the amount was £2,208,333.33 but was significantly reduced by deductions.
It must be noted that neither Manchester City or Sterling have confirmed that this was a legitimate payslip.

His fellow Premier League winger Alex Iwobi - now at Fulham - also saw his payslip supposedly leaked when he playing for Arsenal back in 2019.
