Luis Suarez has encouraged new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez to ‘write his own story’ as he attempts to shut down comparisons between the two.
The two players are both talented Uruguayan strikers who arrived at Liverpool after an impressive spell in Europe.
It’s therefore not hard to see why so many media outlets have been quick to compare the £85 million signing with Luis Suarez.

However, the Atletico Madrid striker has told The Mirror Nunez is a ‘special player’ who ‘doesn’t need to be compared with anybody’.
There’s clearly a lot of love between the forwards. Straight after he signed for the Reds, Nunez took to social media to praise Suarez.
He said: ‘It is an honour for me to follow in your footsteps! I hope I can perform like you did in Liverpool!’

Suarez has also stated he will be on hand to offer advice to the young star, particularly around the style of play he can expect to encounter in England, which many foreign players take time to acclimatise to.
He also offered a few warm words for his former team, saying that Liverpool was a ‘great club’, with ‘one of the best coaches in the world… and special fans’.
Suarez clearly still has fond memories of his time in England and the feeling is shared by many Liverpool supporters who will be hoping Nunez can emulate Suarez’s astonishing form during his time on Merseyside.
Luis Suarez scored 82 goals in just 133 appearances, including many astonishing finishes that will live long in the memory of the Kop.

There may even be a possible return to England on the horizon for Suarez as Aston Villa manager and former teammate Steven Gerrard is reportedly weighing up a bid for the veteran.
Meanwhile the hype around Nunez continues to grow, and with preseason beginning in just two weeks, he won’t have to wait long to begin penning this new chapter of his career.
