Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has praised former Red Adam Lallana for his performance in Brighton’s shock 2-1 win over Manchester United this weekend.
Graham Potter’s side performed admirably across 90 minutes to spoil Erik ten Hag’s opening day party, with Pascal Gross scoring both of the Seagulls’ goals.
Alexis Mac Allister’s unlucky own goal was Manchester United’s only salvation but they failed to capitalise, meaning the Dutchman began his Old Trafford days in defeat.

Lallana, who joined the Seagulls in 2020 after six years with Liverpool, was a key figure in both Brighton’s shock win and the Reds rise to title winners.

After joining under Brendan Rodgers in 2014, Lallana enjoyed a great bond with new manager Jürgen Klopp upon his arrival.
A brilliant 2016/17 season followed, in which the former Southampton midfielder scored seven Premier League goals.
Despite an injury-plagued conclusion to his Reds career, he left both a Champions League and Premier League winner - with his final goal coming at Old Trafford.
Former skipper Henderson took to social media to praise the 34-year-old, commenting "what a player" on Instagram. Another ex-Red Dejan Lovren added "well done bro".

Henderson and Lallana are well known for their friendship off the field, with the latter even shedding a tear when doing an interview about leaving the club.
Lallana will look to have an injury-free season this time around for Potter’s side, who have lost Marc Cucurella and Yves Bissouma for big money this summer.
Brighton aren’t heavy spenders, but have brought in Deniz Undav from Union Saint Gilloise, Levi Colwill on loan from Chelsea, and Julio Enciso from Libertad.
Moises Caicedo, who performed brilliantly in the match against Man Utd, will be expected to fill Bissouma’s void alongside Enock Mwepu and Lallana himself.
