It's seen Empire of the Kop float the idea of Spearing, who returned to the club in June in a player coach role for the U23s, playing a game if things got desperate.
They said: "We have Bobby (Roberto) Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold who could both help a midfield trio in a crisis, as well as Melkamu Frauendorf, the hugely impressive Stefan Bajcetic and (say it very quietly) yes, even Jay Spearing (as our 14th choice midfield option) - in a time of real need."
Spearing played for the first-team between 2008 and 2013 before going on to join Bolton Wanderers permanently.
He'd spend the next nine years in the lower leagues, representing Bolton, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and hometown club Tranmere Rovers.

Supporters welcomed him back to Anfield with open arms but are furious with the suggestion he could be a first-team option.
One person commented: "Right let’s stick Jay Spearing in as the right central midfielder and see how he does."
Another said: "This whole Jay Spearing thing being used as our midfielder isn’t even funny. Just makes me wanna cry."

A third put: "Just seen someone actually suggest we can use Jay Spearing if our midfield crisis continues."
While someone tweeted: "Jay Spearing will at least make it on to the bench at some point for us this season hahaha absolute madness."
Liverpool have signed Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay in the transfer window so far.

They've lost Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino to Bayern Munich and Monaco respectively, while youngster Tyler Morton has moved to Blackburn on loan.
It's believed the club are holding out on signing a new midfielder under 2023, when they can make a big push for Borussia Dortmund teenage sensation Jude Bellingham.
