Liverpool's move for Serie A wonderkid Giorgio Scalvini is in jeopardy with Inter Milan stepping up their efforts for the Atalanta defender.
The Italian youngster broke into the first team last term and has already made 14 appearances this season scoring two goals in the process.
A series of impressive performances have seen the 19-year-old capped for the national team and as a result, attract interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs.

It was reported back in November that the Reds were interested in bringing the player to Anfield and that Atalanta would accept offers of around £40m.
Until recently it was believed that Liverpool would push both Inter and Juventus right to the end to seal his signature, but now it appears Inter are leading the chase.
Scalvini to replace Milan Skriniar
The future of star defender Milan Skriniar is the reason why the Italian giants are looking to make more of an effort to secure Scalvini.

Skriniar is on the verge of making a sensational move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer after refusing to sign a new contract at the Italian giants.
French outlets have said a deal has been agreed between the player at the club but Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has reported, that no pre-contract agreement has been signed yet.
Inter are rumoured to have listed multiple options to replace Skriniar in mind, which could boost Liverpool's chances of signing Scalvini.
However, according to journalist Marco Barzaghi, as reported by SempreInter, the Atalanta man is their main target.

He said: “There’s Scalvini, who Inter have made a target for the future, though only for the right price – I’ve read that he’s valued at €50 million, which has no real basis.”
If Liverpool did secure his services then it would be a risk for Jurgen Klopp's side due to his lack of Premier League experience.
But their track record of recruiting top young talent and developing them into star players can't be questioned.
