Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is having scans after sustaining a hamstring injury during the club's pre-season training in Singapore.
The injury is suspected to be a recurrence of a knock which he suffered whilst on international duty with Portugal earlier in the summer.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has given his verdict on the Jota situation, he said ‘He trained yesterday fully and got injured again…We have to wait for the results, he had an assessment this morning’.

Klopp elaborated on Jota’s injury saying ‘Is it his hamstring? We will see. It is in the same region’, which suggests that this is a recurrence of a previous injury
Jota will now be unavailable for selection for Liverpool’s fixture against Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace at the Singapore National Stadium on Friday.
Should Jota’s fitness remain in this perilous state it could be a very difficult start to the season for Liverpool.
Whilst the signing of Darwin Núñez will strengthen the attack of Klopp’s side, the departure of Sadio Mané to Bayern Munich means Liverpool will need their attack to be at full strength if they are to compete with Man City this year.

Jota has been sidelined by serious injuries before.
After arriving at Anfield from Wolves in 2020, for a £41 million fee, he made an impressive start and was awarded the club’s player of the month award for October, but in December 2020 the Portuguese international sustained a leg injury which put him out for three months.
In the 2021/2022 season the Portuguese international became a crucial element of Klopp’s side, making 35 Premier League appearances and scoring 15 goals.
Jota is not the only Liverpool starter who is currently suffering with injuries.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has also been ruled out of Friday’s Crystal Palace game, according to Klopp Alisson is ‘not 100%’. The Liverpool manager said that Allison ‘felt something while warming up…It’s the period of the year when we have to be really careful’.
