Arsenal linked with shock move for Liverpool star in what would be the wildest transfer of the summer

Liverpool would reportedly consider selling him for the right price.

A stunning report has linked Arsenal with a Liverpool star in what would be a wild transfer.

Arsenal were linked with several players during the January transfer window, including Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.

The club had an offer for Watkins rejected by Villa as David Ornstein revealed the real reason why the Gunners didn't sign the star forward.

Despite failing to recruit Watkins, a forward is thought to be high on Mikel Arteta's transfer wish-list heading into the summer.

And a name has emerged as a potential Arsenal target.

According to a report via Transfermarkt, Liverpool would consider selling Diogo Jota for the right price this summer.

Further reports claim Arsenal may be interested in buying him as they look to solve a problematic position.

Jota could solve Arteta's forward issues, having enjoyed a prolific career in the Premier League with Wolves and Liverpool.

He made his name at Wolves before Liverpool snapped him up in a transfer worth £45 million.

Jota, 28, has scored 64 goals for the Reds and has eight goals to his name this season.

Th Portuguese is more than just a poacher as he has a great knack of scoring with his head despite only being 5 ft 10.

Arsenal are expected to prioritise a forward in the summer after Arteta expressed his 'disappointment' at his side not signing a No.9 last month.

"We had a clear intention to explore opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it," he said.

"We haven’t achieved it, so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kind of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well.

"When you try your best and after you don’t achieve it, there are things to learn. Nobody knows whether it is better to have done it or not. We’ll know probably at the end of the season."
