Jamie Carragher outright says he is 'delighted' to see PSG crash out of Champions League, tells Kylian Mbappe to leave

Jamie Carragher insisted that PSG's Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich only highlighted how "important it is to be a team."

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher ruthlessly admitted that he is “delighted” that Paris Saint-Germain were dumped out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich.

PSG arrived at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening facing an uphill task after losing the first-leg round-of-16 tie 1-0 at the Parc des Princes back in February.

And the defending Ligue 1 champions suffered more misery in Germany after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat to Julian Nagelsmann’s impressive Bayern side.

Goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry in the second half sealed Bayern’s progression to the Champions League quarter-finals.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier faces mounting pressure over his future in the French capital after his side failed in their bid to win the Champions League title this season.

Kylian Mbappe, who signed a new contract with PSG last summer, has also been heavily linked with a move away from the club amid fierce interest from Real Madrid.

Speaking after PSG’s 2-0 defeat, Carragher pulled no punches towards the Parisian-based side and claimed they are “not a team” and branded them a “mess.”

The Sky Sports pundit also urged Mbappe to quit PSG after Galtier’s men crashed out of the Champions League knockout rounds.

“What I’ve seen unfold… I mean, to be honest, I’m delighted PSG have gone out,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.

“I am. I just don’t like the whole set-up, everything about it. It’s not a team, it’s just a mess.

“Five years out of seven they’ve gone out of the last 16. They spent more money than anyone, they’ve got the best players in the world.

“And you know what? It’s brilliant because it just tells you how important it is to be a team. I think that’s really important in football.

“We love individuals within a team, but that’s not a team, honestly. Kylian Mbappe has got to leave that club.”
