Jamie Carragher has come up with an interesting theory regarding Manchester United's reported pursuit of Mason Mount ahead of their FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Man United, who have bagged the Carabao Cup and secured Champions League football for next season, take on their cross-town rivals in today's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
And ahead of the meeting, Liverpool legend Carragher has made a bold claim about the transfer rumours linking Mount with a move to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old appears set to leave Chelsea, with Erik ten Hag thought to be keen on snapping up the midfielder this summer.

But Carragher has questioned the updates regarding Man United's pursuit of Mount hours before their FA Cup final against the Blues.
On Twitter, he wrote: "Clubs normally feed information about a potential signing after a defeat to lift their supporters & change the narrative.
"Man United have fed the Mason Mount deal before the Cup Final, are their supporters that fearful & negative about today?!!"
It's understood Mount will cost Man United £50-60 million as Chelsea look to offload players, having recruited heavily in the last two transfer windows.

However, former Man United captain Roy Keane isn't convinced about his old side wanting to sign the England international.
"I wouldn’t be so sure about Mount. He’s gone off the boil a little bit," he said on Sky Sports.
“I know he can bounce back and he’s got qualities, I was raving about him a few years ago but he’s just gone missing this last year or two, again, one or two injuries, the fact he can’t get in a bad Chelsea team."
Keane continued by referencing West Ham United's Declan Rice, adding: "They’ve been linked with lots of players but the one who would excite you is Kane.

“I think Rice would be a decent signing. But in terms of the excitement and a goalscorer, you’d go all in for Kane but can you see Spurs selling to Man United? Very, very difficult."
