It has been revealed that football fans have been getting it wrong by calling Champions League finalists Inter Milan.
On Saturday night, the Italian giants are hoping to cause an almighty upset when they take on hot favourites Manchester City in the Champions League final in Istanbul.
Ahead of the showpiece final, it has been said that Inter Milan have been referred to by the wrong name.

Back in 1908, Football Club Internazionale were founded and the addition of Milan at the end of their name was not by their own accord.
On social media, the club’s handles are simply @Inter, whilst their website is Inter.it.
However, their badge does include references to Milan, with the letters FCIM printed on their crest until 2021.

In 2021, Inter changed their logo to only include the letters IM.
Despite that, it is believed that you are unlikely to hear fans in Italy calling them anything but Inter.
Apart from Inter, other clubs also suffer these kinds of misinterpretation abroad.
For example, Portuguese club Sporting are often referred to as Sporting Lisbon in other countries.

Whilst Spanish La Liga side Athletic Club are known as Athletic Bilbao.
However, fans will not be thinking about the proper way of calling their club when they tune in for the Champions League final.
Speaking ahead of the mouthwatering clash, Inter boss Simone Inzaghi said: “We know what kind of match to expect tomorrow, we know what kind of match we have to play. We know that Manchester City right now is probably the best team in the world.

“They have proved so in being defeated very few times, but we are aware of our Champions League campaign, we are proud of what we have done.”
He added: “We will do out best to play the final with high concentration, we must make no mistakes because our opponents are very very strong.”
