Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for want-away Bayern star Serge Gnabry this summer, but the German club aren’t pleased with his antics.
Senior figures at Bayern reportedly want to “teach him a lesson” and oust him from the first-team set-up for the entirety of next season according to Kicker.
Despite placing an attractive offer on the table for the 26-year-old, Gnabry is refusing to entertain a contract extension from Bayern.

This would be something of a strange move from the Bundesliga champions.
Granted, Bayern are a big club, and players should be grateful to play for them, but refusal to sign a contract extension isn’t a punishable offence.
In addition, Bayern could really shoot themselves in the foot with this one.
Gnabry has just one year left on his contract in Bavaria, and won’t be any more tempted to put pen to paper on a new deal if he is frozen out for a season.

As such, Gnabry could never play for Bayern again, and if this is the case he will inevitably leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
Surely the wiser option from Bayern’s perspective would be to offer him around to interested parties.
The Germany international is said to be rated at around £25 million this summer, and a plethora of clubs around Europe would be interested in bringing him in at such a price.

Liverpool, for example, aren’t willing to spend big on further attacking additions this window following the £85.5 million signing of Darwin Núñez.
However, if they feel they can bring in a high calibre player at a cut price, they would of course be interested in such a deal.
Bayern Munich are a club who like to set high standards.
And high standards are, indeed, important to create an elite culture at a football club.

However, from an economical and ethical perspective, if they have decided to freeze out Gnabry it seems a bad decision on every level.
