Bayern Munich are interested in signing Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, it has been claimed.
The Independent has reported Bayern are interested in a move for Wharton, with the club's hierarchy having considered the 20-year-old as the midfield profile they have been missing.
The Bavarian giants are keen to spend big this summer, with defensive midfield a position former manager Thomas Tuchel was desperate to address.

Wharton has allegedly come out on top in a lot of their analytics, and Bayern are willing to revive prior interest in the youngster, who only signed for Palace in a deal worth an initial £18million in January from Blackburn Rovers.
Wharton's performances as part of a rejuvenated Palace have seen him named in England's 33-man provisional squad ahead of the summer's Euros in Germany.
Gareth Southgate is said to be considering using the youngster as a balancing midfielder alongside Declan Rice for England, which would likely see the player's value sky rocket.

“Adam Wharton transferred in the middle of the season and adapted to the Premier League really well,” Southgate said upon naming Wharton in his provision squad.
“[Wharton] has only just got into our Under-21s group but we have seen enough to know that he is a player who we would like to see more of and find out a bit more about.
“[He is a] good technician – he can handle the ball really well. He’s got a calmness about him that I really like. Palace have found a system that really suits him with a back three behind. There are bits we need to find out about that.

“He is in a good moment, he is confident and we are keen to find out more about him.”
Wharton is among a spate of Palace players that have been linked to transfers this summer, with Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Jean-Phillipe Mateta having also reportedly been the subject of interest.
Elsewhere, Vincent Kompany has left Burnley to become manager of Bayern. The Bundesliga side had endured a lengthy search to find a new manager after a trophyless campaign under Tuchel.
