Gabriel Martinelli could anger Liverpool by setting a new Premier League record during Arsenal’s weekend clash with West Ham.
Manchester City seized the momentum in the title race this weekend after league leaders Arsenal squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Liverpool at Anfield.
Arsenal, who have now not won away at Liverpool since 2012, missed the opportunity to go eight points clear at the Premier League summit.

While the Gunners still have a six-point advantage over City at the top of the Premier League, Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand and are still due to welcome Arsenal at the Etihad at the end of April.
Though Mikel Arteta's men may have one eye on the top-of-the-table clash against City, their attention this week will be firmly fixed on the weekend’s fixture against West Ham.
Martinelli in particular will be looking ahead to Sunday, given he is on the cusp of setting a new Premier League record.
Martinelli’s Premier League record
Martinelli can surpass Roberto Firmino as the Brazilian with the highest number of goals in a Premier League season against West Ham.

Should the 21-year-old Arsenal winger net twice against the Irons he would surpass Firmino’s record 15 goals, which the 31-year-old claimed back in the 2017/2018 season.
Martinelli is currently on 14 Premier League goals, which is a total equalled by two of his compatriots in the past.
Gabriel Jesus netted 14 times for City in the 2019/2020 season, while Robinho recorded the same tally for the Sky Blues back in 2008/2009.

Martinelli has been one of Arsenal’s star performers this term and even received special praise from club legend Ray Parlour after the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

“He was different class,” Parlour said on Premier League Productions.
“I did think that would be an area Arsenal could get some joy.
“We know Trent can be vulnerable and Martinelli took advantage of that. He picked out Jesus brilliantly for the second goal. Martinelli is a livewire, we all know that.”
