Former Premier League midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a shock managerial role despite him currently being head coach of Serie A side Como.
Fabregas, 37, was one the most gifted midfielders of his generation and represented Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and the Spain national team before he retired from playing in 2023 after stints at Monaco and Como.
In July 2023, he was appointed as head coach of Como’s Under-19 and B teams before initially being promoted to first-team coach on an interim basis in November of that year.

Fabregas was then assistant to Osain Roberts before making the step up to head coach permanently in August 2024.
The Spaniard has led his Como side to 13th in Serie A, which would be considered a success given the fact it is their first season in Italy’s top division.
Now, it has emerged that a Bundesliga club are interested in bringing him on board after they sacked their head coach at the end of March.

The club in question are RB Leipzig who recently parted company with now-former head coach Marco Rose.

According to German outlet BILD, Leipzig has identified the former midfielder as a potential option to fill the vacancy with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner also linked with the role.
Of course, former Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp could influence the decision as he is Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer.

It is unclear if Fabregas would be willing to undertake the role in Germany at this time.
The ex-Arsenal man has learned from the best, having played under Arsène Wenger, Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Luis Aragonés and Vicente del Bosque.
"I try to have phone calls with people who have been in the game for a long time," Fabregas told the Coaches' Voice in 2023. "My aim is to improve, so I want to talk and debate. I want to take ideas from people around me. This is something I’m really passionate about."
"As a coach, the most important thing is how you convince your players to play your way of football," he added. "I believe in that strongly. Now, when I think about implementing my own ideas and methodology as a coach, many, many things will come from Arsene. For me, on the pitch, he was No 1. I came to Arsenal at 16 and, from such a young age, he taught me and trusted me enough to put me in the team. He made me see football on another level."
