Wrexham fans are convinced club will complete second deadline-day signing after spotting mysterious new player in training pictures

Wrexham fans think a second deadline-day signing is coming.

Wrexham fans are convinced that the club will complete a second deadline-day signing after spotting a mysterious player in training photos.

Wrexham have made a solid start to their first season in League One after a 20-year absence, but owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney aren't happy for the club's rise up the divisions to stop there.

After securing back-to-back promotions, the Hollywood duo are splashing the cash in an effort to propel Wrexham into the Championship.

The Welsh club have twice broken their transfer record this summer; in July midfielder Ollie Rathbone arrived from Rotherham in a deal worth around £420,000, and on deadline day Wrexham completed the £500,000 signing of striker Mo Faal from West Brom.

The summer transfer window will close at 11pm BST on Friday evening, but Wrexham fans are convinced that at least one more player will be signed before then.

Plenty of fans on social media have spotted a 'mystery' player in photos from Wrexham training this week.

Wrexham podcast RobRyanRed shared one photo of players stretching, suggesting that one player pictured standing behind Rathbone is free agent Josh Adam.

The 20-year-old Scottish midfielder was released by Manchester City at the end of last season after four years at the club.

Adam joined the Premier League champions from Celtic in 2020 and spent two seasons with the club's under-18s side before moving up to the under-21s.

The midfielder made 16 appearances in Premier League 2 last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

It's understood that Adam has indeed been training with the club this week, so it could be that club bosses decide to sign him.

As Adam is a free agent, Wrexham do not need to sign him before the transfer window closes on Friday evening.
