Wrexham winger James McClean has taken to social media to issue a brutal response to fans who goaded him during the Red Dragons’ 2-1 defeat against Shrewsbury on Thursday.
McClean, 35, started the derby match at New Meadow but could not help his side steer clear of defeat against their relegation-threatened rivals.
Despite the disappointing result, Wrexham still sit third in League One as they look to secure a third consecutive promotion under the guidance of manager Phil Parkinson.
While Shrewsbury will be hoping the win is a catalyst to reignite their season, with Gareth Ainsworth’s side currently 21st in the 24-team team division.

After the game, Parkinson, 57, explained how his team gave the home side “two huge lifts” handing them two goals as a result of mistakes.
"We've handed them two goals with two mistakes,” he told BBC Radio Wales. "When you give a team in a frenetic derby atmosphere two huge lifts it gives them something to hold onto.
"We've scored and got back in the game and then the sloppy moment costs us the penalty.”
And part of this atmosphere was a section of Shrewsbury fans who were taunting McClean for much of the game. So much so that he even walked over and confronted them after the match before being ushered back by stewards.

But the bad blood between the player and the club’s fans did not end on Thursday night.
On Saturday morning the former Republic of Ireland international took to social media with a brutal reference to Shrewsbury supporters.
McClean posted a video of the fans abusing him to his story with the caption: "In fairness, if I was born and raised in Shrewsbury I'd probably be this angry as well cause its an absolute cesspit full of inbreds."

It is unclear if McClean will face any action as a result of his strongly worded post.
Fans on social media were quick to give their thoughts on the controversial post.
One said: "Seems he’s taken it well."

A third commented: "Can give it but certainly cannot take it."
