Ex-Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as England's new boss.

New England boss Thomas Tuchel has already picked out one extraordinary player that he could build his Three Lions team around.

Tuchel, 51, was announced as England’s new head coach on Wednesday morning.

A statement from the FA read: “The FA has announced that UEFA Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel is the new England senior men’s head coach and will be assisted by internationally-renowned English coach Anthony Barry.”

The former Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Borussia Dortmund boss is only the third non-English manager to coach the Three Lions, following in the footsteps of Fabio Capello and the late Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Tuchel built up a reputation after winning trophies with the likes of PSG, Chelsea and Bayern, and the English FA will be hoping he can be the man to finally break the men’s senior team’s silverware drought.

Since the news broke that Tuchel is set to take over, there have been a lot of talks on which players will benefit the most.

Back in April 2024, ahead of Bayern’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid, Tuchel picked out midfielder Jude Bellingham, labelling him as ‘extraordinary’.

He said at the time: “Jude is extraordinary... He was fantastic here in the Bundesliga, how he progressed shows the level of personality he has, it's only possible with a huge personality.

“Everyone who plays for Madrid plays with the pressure of the shirt. He plays with the pressure to play with this club and all the expectations. He handles it like he's never done anything else. But we are well aware of it and will try and find solutions tomorrow (Tuesday).”

After impressing at Madrid, Bellingham is set to be a mainstay in England’s starting XI for years to come and Tuchel will for sure be looking to build his team around the 21-year-old superstar.

Speaking after being confirmed as England boss, Tuchel said: “I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team. I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already.

“To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.”
