Trippier could still be on the move.

Another club has entered the race to sign Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier following interest from Galatasaray and Eyupspor.

Trippier has seen himself slip down the pecking order at Newcastle after originally signing for the club back in 2022 as the first real statement signing for the new Saudi Arabian owners.

The full-back has only made two substituted Premier League appearances so far this season and also announced his retirement from international football.

In a statement on Instagram, Trippier confirmed his decision to step back.

"I never thought as a young lad from Bury that I would play for my country let alone achieve 54 caps," he began.

"It's been one of the biggest honours of my life to represent my country at 4 major tournaments.

"I want to say a big thank you to Gareth and all the staff that have worked with the England squad for the trust they have placed in me throughout the years.

"Thank you to all my teammates - we have had some very special moments reaching 2 Euro finals, and a World Cup semi-final and I am sure in the future this group of players will win a major tournament."

Despite the Premier League transfer window slamming shut on Friday, Trippier still looks set to leave the club due to the Turkish transfer window remaining open until the 13th of September.

According to journalist Resat Can Ozbudak, Trippier has already agreed personal terms with Super Lig side, Eyupspor, and HITC are also reporting Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce are after the defender.

However, there is now a third club entering the frame with Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu revealing Başakşehir have 'stepped in' to sign the Newcastle man.

The 33-year-old will still believe he has a lot to offer in the game following his contribution to England's run to the Euro 2024 final, covering for the injured Luke Shaw for the majority of the tournament.

The Englishman's sole start this campaign came in Newcastle's penalty shoot-out victory in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest.
